Baader Planetarium 6mm Genuine Orthoscopic Eyepiece GO-6 Feature

  • Proper internal baffling and blackened lens edges for elimination of stray light reflections.
  • Chrome plated barrels are threaded for standard 1.25" filters.

Baader Planetarium 6mm Genuine Orthoscopic Eyepiece GO-6

Genuine Baader Planetarium Orthoscopic Eyepieces offer a high contrast, high light throughput view for planetary and solar observers. The design offers approximately a 40 degree true field of view. Broadband multi-coatings applied to each surface of Baader Planetarium Orthoscopic Eyepieces with less than 0.2% reflectivity at each air-to-glass surface. Low scattering of light makes a huge difference for bright objects like the Sun (both in H-alpha and white light), Moon, and planets.

The true Abbe Orthoscopic has long been recognized for its ability to deliver the highest resolution, contrast and light throughput of any modern eyepiece design. On-axis images are essentially perfect and the orthoscopic design ensures freedom from distortion. Contrast and throughput are maximized by its minimum of lens elements and only 4 air-to-glass surfaces.

The pinnacle of planetary eyepieces, the Zeiss Abbe Orthoscopic, is still regarded as the finest eyepiece ever produced, and are the standard against which all other premium eyepieces are compared to. Unfortunately, these eyepieces are no longer produced, and command prices of up to 0 each on the secondary market! Through their many years of eyepiece design and production, combined with their close associations with Zeiss, Baader Planetarium has acquired a unique in-depth knowledge of eyepiece design and fabrication. Baader set out to deliver an eyepiece that is worthy of comparison to the Zeiss Abbe, while still remaining affordable for the amateur. The result is the Baader Genuine Orthoscopic.

Absolutely the finest Broadband Multi-layer Coatings available have been applied to all surfaces. Reflectivity of less than 0.2% at each air-to-glass surface results in maximum contrast, light throughput, and freedom from ghost images. Or how about Superb Lens Polish? Baader Genuine Orthoscopic

TMB Optical Planetary 4mm long eye relief 1.25" Eyepiece TMBP04

TMB Optical Planetary 4mm long eye relief 1.25" Eyepiece TMBP04 Reviews

Other Picture

This 4mm TMB Planetary eyepiece was designed to provide exceptional high power/comfortable eye relief observing with long focal length refractors, reflectors, or catadioptric scopes under average or better seeing conditions. It is optimized to view bright objects, both on and off axis, while showing maximum contrast, detail, and definition. It has very high light transmission, very high contrast, minimal lateral color, and minimal light scatter.

Combine the high resolution of the 4mm TMB planetary with its high contrast and you have an eyepiece that's unexcelled for lunar and planetary observing and binary star splitting. While the 4mm TMB eyepiece is optimized for observing subtle lunar and planetary detail and contrast, the eyepiece works equally well for splitting close binary stars, resolving compact globular clusters, etc. The 4mm focal length of this TMB provides very probably the maximum power possible with an f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain, as it gives a very high 62.5x per inch of aperture with such a scope. That's more than the 50x-60x per inch of aperture considered the maximum possible under excellent seeing conditions. It provides the 0.5mm exit pupil recommended as the minimum usable for maximum detail with an f/8 focal ratio refractor or reflector.

Eye relief, at 10mm, is quite good for an eyepiece with such a short focal length. Vignetting will only be moderate for those who must wear eyeglasses while observing. This usually won't be a problem when using the TMB Planetary eyepiece on the kinds of objects for which it was optimized - planets, binary stars, etc. - as these small objects are generally kept in the center of the eyepiece field, where your eyesight is sharpest.

For Dobsonian users and others without tracking drives, the very low lateral color and other aberrations of the 4mm TMB allow a planet to drift across its entire 58 degree field while still being sharp and having high cont

Explore Scientific Extreme Wide Field 82° Waterproof Series 18mm Eyepiece, 2.0" Barrel.

Explore Scientific Extreme Wide Field 82° Waterproof Series 18mm Eyepiece, 2.0" Barrel. Reviews

Other Picture

Using advanced computer design, combinations of low dispersion and high refractive index optical glasses, and durable multilayer deposition coatings, Explore Scientific 82° Series extreme wide field eyepieces are optimized to produce high contrast, high resolution, and superior flat field characteristics. The visual effect of these eyepieces with their long eye-relief and their 82° apparent field is truly a full-immersion experience. Your eye is relaxed, allowing you to easily use the "averted vision" technique to study faint details across a huge field-of-view. Each eyepiece is meticulously assembled into precision machined metal lens barrels that maintain the perfect alignment of the optical train for years of rugged use in the field. The 82° Series eyepieces come with a twist-up rubber eye-guard that raise to the desired height for the comfort of the observer, and as experienced astronomers know, eye comfort is critical when trying to observe at the visual limits of the telescope. To keep internal reflections to a minimum, all internal surfaces of the eyepiece barrel are flat black, as well as the edges of the lenses themselves to minimizethe scattering of light within the lenses themselves. In today's modern telescope industry there are many fine companies to choose from manufacturing top quality eyepieces. Explore Scientific invites direct side-by-side comparison with any other eyepiece of similar design, and backs the eyepiec

Tele Vue Plossl 40mm - 1.25" Eyepiece EPL-400

Tele Vue Plossl 40mm - 1.25" Eyepiece EPL-400 Reviews

Tele Vue Plossl 40mm - 1.25" Eyepiece EPL-400 Feature

  • Focal Length 40mm
  • Barrel Size 1.25"
  • # of Elements 4
  • Apparent FOV 43 degrees
  • Weight - .41lbs

Diffraction limited "on-axis" performance is a given. Using more expensive high-index glasses to reduce astigmatism and lateral color at the field's edge, Tele Vue Plossls deliver sharper images than any other brand of 4 or 5 element "Plossl" or Orthoscopic designs. The faster the focal ratio of your telescope, the greater your visual reward for using Tele Vue eyepieces. Tele Vue Plossls feature full multicoatings for greatest light transmission and contrast. Blackened lens edges and internal anti-reflection threads tweak the last bit of contrast for maximum image detail. The sharper field focuses faint star light into perceptible points and allows those with undriven mounts to gaze longer before repositioning the image.
