Celestron 21063 AstroMaster 90 AZ Refractor Telescope

Celestron 21063 AstroMaster 90 AZ Refractor Telescope Reviews

    Other Picture

Celestron 21063 AstroMaster 90 AZ Refractor Telescope Feature

    • Model Number: 90AZ
    • Magnification: 50
    • Weight: 20 Pounds
    • Focal Ratio: 11.11
Celestron’s Astromaster 90AZ refractor telescope is a good choice for anyone who wants a dual purpose telescope. With more than double the light gathering power of 60mm starter scopes, it’s a great introduction to astronomy and it can double as a long range spotting scope. Bigger and more impressive than it looks in pictures, the Astromaster 90AZ is an adult size telescope that stands nearly five feet high and weighs about 20 pounds. With it’s fully illustrated quick set up guide, the telescope is easy to assemble, and the package includes an erect image prism, high and low power eyepieces, and astronomy software for your PC.

Refractors are known for their crisp, high contrast views of the Moon and planets and the Astromaster 90 delivers sharp views right out of the box. The low power 20mm eyepiece (50X magnification) nicely frames the moon, while the high power 10mm eyepiece (100X magnification) delivers a crisp close up image full of detail. The sharp Achromatic optics of the Astromaster 90AZ show me memorable views night after night. On a moonless night I like the way the 20mm eyepiece frames the ghostly glow of the Orion Nebula. Zooming in with the 10mm eyepiece, I can easily pick out all four stars of the Orion Nebula’s embedded quadruple star the Trapezium.

The AstroMaster 90 AZ also features a newly designed Alt-Azimuth mount and tripod. The tripod comes fully assembled, and the telescope simply clamps into a standard dovetail. This new tripod seems reasonably solid, I had no trouble focusing on the Moon and stars even with the high power eyepiece. An Alt-azimuth mount, of course, is best used at low to medium powers because it does not track the motion of the stars. As soon as you get the Moon centered in the eyepiece, it starts drifting toward the edge-this is caused by rotation of the Earth. Celestial objects will stay in the low power field of view for three or four minutes, but with a high power eyepiece they may disappear in a minute or less.

Celestron’s AstroMaster 90 AZ is one entry level telescope that offers great views during the daytime as well as at night. The sharp optics produce a right side up image, the mount is easy to use, and the included planetarium software helps you find planets in the night sky. --Jeff Phillips

    Pros:

    • Crisp clear views both day and night
    • Rugged refractor design
    • Quick and easy no-tool set up
    • Erect image prism and two eyepieces included
    Cons:
    • Alt-Azimuth mount doesn’t track stars and planets
    • Star pointer not so easy to use

If you're looking for a great dual-purpose telescope appropriate for both terrestrial and celestial viewing, then the Celestron AstroMaster Series is for you. Each AstroMaster model is capable of giving image correct views of land and sky. With its time tested durability and high quality optics at an affordable price, the Celestron Astro Master makes a great first telescope! As a bonus, Celestron has included a nice selection of accessories for your new telescope with this purchase, which means you will be observing the same day you unpack the box. Accessories include two full-sized eyepieces, a Star Pointer finderscope for easy location of objects you wish to observe, and even software for your PC. "The Sky - Level 1" will let you study and print star charts from your computer screen... and that's just the beginning!

    • 4mm, 10mm & 20mm Eyepieces & 2x Barlow Lens included
    • Full Size Tripod -- Step-by-step color photo online assembly guide
This GPS telescope does it all with just the push of a button. Simply turn the telescope on, choose the object you want to see on the handheld controller and the computerized mount does the rest. North Star alignment not necessary with GPS. This incredibly balanced telescope is ideal both for space viewing and daytime observing. With a large 70mm aperture this telescope has a third more light gathering power than most smaller scopes. The fully coated achromatic 70mm primary objective lens is maintenance free and ready to use right out of the box. The 700mm focal length, combined with 3 include eyepieces and a 2x barlow lens means you'll enjoy a range of magnifications from 35x to 350x. That makes this telescope ideal for just about any observing application. The iOptron SmartStar-G Alt-Azimuth Mount with GPS, a.k.a. The Cube, is probably the most functional and flexible unit on the market. Both axis motors are built into a small single unit. In addition, there are no "dead spots" -- so you can point your telescope anywhere above the horizon, whereas, other mounts block the telescope tube at certain points of rotation. This mount also comes standard with AC connection. The mount also accepts 8 AA cell batteries for use at home or in the field (Batteries sold separately). The revolutionary GoToNova computerized control system is the most technologically advanced automated tracking system available on the market today. With a database of 50,000 celestial objects, including all of the most famous galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, not to mention the planets, you'll be able to enjoy star gazing with the simple push of a button. The GoToNova Controller is much easier to use than other similar products. The hand controller is more intuitive with menu categories better organized. It also has a larger LCD screen with more lines of content compared with the competition. Using the easy-to-use hand controller, you can easily set up your telescope and select where you want to go.

Meade 80mm f/6 ED Triplet Apochromatic Refractor

Meade 80mm f/6 ED Triplet Apochromatic Refractor Reviews

Meade 80mm f/6 ED Triplet Apochromatic Refractor Feature

    • Fast Focal Ratio: At f/6 (80mm), the focal ratio of this scopes is tailor-made for fast wide field astrophotography.
    • Premium ED Glass: Meade uses the finest Japanese FCD1 ED (Extremely Low Dispersion) glass. This glass is created to achieve a very small change in refractive index with different wavelengths of light. This makes it the perfect choice for a fast, high performance optical design like Series 5000 APOs.
    • Fully Multicoated Lenses: Meade broadband multicoated lenses ensure maximum light transmission.
    • True ED Apochromatic Triplet: A true triplet optical design guarantees the textbook color correction you expect from a premium APO.
    • Fully Extendable Dew Shield/Sun Shade: An essential accessory built-in to the design for your convenience.
Aperture: 3.1-Inch. Focal Length: 480mm. Focal Ratio: f/6. Comes with 2-Inch Series 5000 Enhanced Diagonal, Mounting Bracket and Aluminum, Fully-Padded Carry Case. For crisp wide field observing and imaging, nothing beats a true triple-element apochromatic refractor (APO). This is especially true in astrophotography, where APOs have produced some of the most beautiful images of the heavens ever taken from earth. But not all APOs are created equal. Today’s market is filled with semi-APOs (with two lenses instead of three) that don’t bring all colors to focus. Thanks to a two-year design process and a triple objective lens made from the highest quality ED (extra-low dispersion) glass, Meade Series 5000 ED APO Triplets are virtually free of chromatic aberration (color fringing). This means they outperform the most expensive semi-APOs at a fraction of the cost. Expert observers will be delighted by the total absence of color fringing and the scope’s textbook-perfect pinpoint star images. Even beginners will notice the breathtaking high contrast and resolution of a Meade Series 5000 APO. The scope is available as a stand-alone OTA, or as a package with our new Series 5000 2-Inch enhanced diagonal and an aluminum carrying case. FEATURES FAST FOCAL RATIO: At f/6 (80mm) the focal ratio of this scope is ideal for fast wide field astrophotography. PREMIUM ED GLASS: Meade uses the finest Japanese FCD1 ED (Extremely Low Dispersion) glass. This glass is created to achieve a very small change in refractive index with different wavelengths of light.
